Hi Folks
Just joined this forum to get some advice on my restore.

1977 264GL B27E RHD BW55 , 50.8shaft ( D1 & D2) non LSD. Looking to add Anti Spin options if possible. VIN = 2646 H 1 040619

Plate stamped in the Diff rib says

FABR NO = 14113
PART NO = 255762 ( Is this Type 1031 ?)
RATIO = 3.54

Checking Volvo 260 catalogue->78 , LSD option for DIFF 255762 back then was Volvo P/N 1216034? ( Gruppa 44 page 873 Anti Spin Section )

  1. What's Anti Spin options available now that could fit in this Diff like 1216034?
  2. Just with the P/N and Anti spin option can you tell if its 1030 or 1031 ?
Reading link below says it could be 1031 for 264 PRV? a bit confusing.

Much appreciated

Yes, it's a 1031. Although the early catalog doesn't specify that it's a 1031, if you look up the ring and pinion part number (273410) in the later catalog it shows that it is.

There are a lot of options when it comes to an LSD. There's the Dana Pow-R-Lok or the Eaton G80 that Volvo used, Detroit Trutrac, Wavetrac and Gripper LSD's. There are also 'lunchbox lockers' like Powertrax that re-use the original carrier.

They cost more than the normal "price point for TurboBrickers" which is $16.88 (shipped) but man do they make stuff, much nice design than the other stuff..

No probs.. You thinking of keeping the B27 thang?

When I rescued this girl a year ago , (was in Storage for 17 years ) its B27 was not running , expected , but did manually turned over well. Took 3 weeks before it fired up and since then its been going very strong. It had good history. Main leak now is in power steering rack axle end and fixed leaks around BW55.

Some timeline history on my channel and work on bits I can manage when the thing call "work" is not in my way..

Yes will keep the B27E. Interesting rational when these three company designed the PRV. Modular engine architecture back in 1968. Good or bad its up for discussion IMO even now.

Its Winter here now bloody cold so plan this summer is to paint, fix the steering , fit the LSD and cosmetic stuff..
