Just started with new project, target is nice looking & fast p1800s

recieved car:


Currently ongoing metalworks due some rusty places.

I am planning to put under hood B5234T 166kw engine and connect it with BMW getrag gearbox, i have DXF file for BMW side holes pattern but im missing whiteblock DXF files (if someone has it, please share- id be really happy after that).

Engine management will be done with megasquirt.

Well yeah, im not very good at "updating" thread.

What i have been doing since last visit?

on last years evening car was traveling to sandblasting:
sandcleaned bottom of car and all marked areas..

cleaning car for primer.


painted with standox epoxy primer:



i needed gearbox that would hold engine in 90 degree angle, so i had to make custom one, experimented with cheap getrag 240 (opel R25-D):



and this is current status (preparations for final primer), i also tested some DOTZ wheels on my p1800:
 
long time no news.. :)

Drag and Drift season required my time for other peoples projects and P1800S was sadly waiting me. Now its again continued (deadline is next summer).

Currently car looks like this:

Engine, gearbox, radiator and cooler in place

future plans and already ongoing actions:

volvo 240 rear axle with disc brakes, rear coilovers, pedalbox.

You have missed some updates, that id like to share.


volvo 240 rear axle installed (uniballs are not forever lasting, and if there is too much vibrations to body, i will upgrade to polyurethane- but then it is atleast tested! :) ):


lowest position (brake disks are not installed, so offset changes about 12mm):

due too long "waiting" there has been coming some rusty places on body, it was needed to strip everything once again (really motivating...)..

Like usual, im not really good at making updates..

since last post there has changed a lot, for example the car is driveable! Currently without turbo but this can be fixed during cold winter evenings.

but lets start from where i last posted (i will put small picture in thread and big picture as link)...

added 40kg additional weight (1,5mm STP and double layers around gearbox and rear axle)

next step was to generate interior for that car, since original looked like that:

there was almost nothing left to save... even iron tubes inside seats were totally rusted.

ofcourse i wanted that everyone know what car i have :)

there was selected 3 different colours for interior: Black leather, Begonia leather and Red yarn, begonia was selected based on car external colour and to have some "spark" inside car.

For new seats as base to work with i choosed recaros, as those were sitting most lower position and seemed to fit with my requirements. This was first testing with selected materials:

Due i am also family guy, i needed back seats to be "real"

added seatbelts from volvo 850 (removed some parts from spring mechanism to allow seatbelt to work in any angle.. FWD guys should know that on some weird car angle its not possible to pull also front V850 seatbelts)

next task was to start with wires. Due i am professional Megasquirt installer here, i can handle it by myself :)

As original dashboard gauges were filled with rust, i decided to upgrade those also. many evenings in network ended every time @ speedhut webpage and so these were choosen as best fit:

As P1800 does not have standard size gauges and my current one was having lots of "usage marks" , it was also needed to make new backplate for dashboard. For that we used something that is called "bear tongue" in estonia:

and something interesting for hydraulic handbrake guys :) first look to new hydraulic handbrake that has legit locking mechanism! ofcourse its now powederpainted to avoid my ugly friend, Mr Rust:

Does anyone from here know something about those rods.. are those fitting in or is it needed to mill some meat out of B5234/B5204 block to have those move freely?

ofcourse there will be bigger injectors and correct fuelpump selected (currenty installed 550cc injectors and walbro 255 similiar fuel pump will be too weak for that install...)
