I am going to look at an 89 740 Turbo, hoping to swap the motor into my 87 B230F 240DL.

Seller says it’s a recently rebuilt motor, runs strong, and all accessories are working.

Both cars are AW70.

What are some specific turbo/swap items I should be checking before I commit?

Wait for a 90+ donor for all the better goodies. The only things that would be beneficial on your '89 would be the lh2.2 stuff you need. A 90+ car will have better manifold, turbo, connecting rods, etc.

A turbo car should have an aw71 also.

I hear what you’re saying.

If it really is recently rebuilt though, it’s hard to pass on for a junkyard 90s model. The price is right and I’m not looking to modify the engine any, just keep it stock. Hopefully it’ll last forever with daily driving duty.

I assume it is an AW71 if that’s what it’s supposed to have.

Unfortunately it appears as though the deal may fall through anyway. So I guess I’ll keep my ear to the ground for a 90s model after all.
