1989 245 first car

I got the engine back yesterday, short block basically, so I need to put the head on and it's basically ready to go. The axle came in Friday, and I went to look at the car, which should be coming home late this week. The trans mount made up, the motor mounts were moved down an inch and forward an inch so the trans tunnel didn't have to be pounded out or cut up. Also a flaming river manual rack was fit in. The rear spring perches were moved inward a couple inches, because the calipers didn't clear the springs since both sides of the diff were shortened. I'll post pics later today.

I got the car back this morning, and was able to take some better pictures
Im starting to mock up the engine bay a little to make some small adjustments to the intercooler piping since things got shifted a little bit. Next is to make up the brake lines and start plumbing the fuel lines.

Very nice wagon!

Beware that sheet metal edge in the trunk wearing into that nice fuel cell.
A grommet for the return line may save you some pain also.

That thing is going to be a beast!

Im waiting on the proper intermediate shaft bearing before the block is finished. fuel lines and brake lines are all mounted.
just going through right now and repainting things here and there and cleaning it up more while i wait for the bearings

Cars coming along great! Looks like the automotive lineage is strong in your family!

That front lip looks great, you have any pictures of it in progress. It reminds me of the WRX/STI HD lip I bought for my Subie! I have plenty of extra 240 lips to try this out with!

So it turns out ive missed a lot of updating on the build. The engine is assembled, mated to the trans, and dropped in the car. I ended up re-wiring the engine bay and a lot of the wiring under the dash was cleaned up.
Im running a Moroso electric water pump motor, with a stock 240 rad fan mounted between the intercooler and rad, and no thermostat.
The alternator is an 80amp from a big block chev, with the power steering/AC bracket modified, with aluminum bushings, and an adjustable rod with heim joints. The battery was relocated to the left rear wheel tub, and im still working on connecting everything up, as well as a main power switch.
Lots more to com still. just bought a house tho, so the next few weeks will be moving everything to the new garage, and organizing things along the way. Im hoping to have it running for the spring, probably at 20psi to start

Thought about this one the other day - Any updates later into the year man? I know life gets crazy and shifts priorities around a bit...

Best Wishes

Lifes gotten in the way, bought a house, girlfriend back in school, haven't had much time or money for it. I got it started and idling, cylinder 4 is running hot, going through and checking wiring when I get a chance - swapped injectors and plugs.

Wondering how you ended up routing the intercooler and waterlines, i have the same exhaust manifold and struggeling a bit
