740 clock issue

The clock works fine, but the shaft used to adjust the time stopped working: the time cannot be reset.

I assume that there is some mechanical failure causing the problem: I'll tear into it soon.

In the meanwhile, any suggestions as to how to repair it (I assume it is a common problem)?

Move to timezone where time is correct.

This, sort of.

Why not just disconnect the battery and then reconnect when the time matches the display?
Or do you cross time zones too often to make that convenient?

I prefer to tinker on my brick and make sure everything works the way it should.

Will check for mfr. of cluster.

100% with you on this Mr. V. I'll just caution you to be careful. You may get in there to solve one problem, and create a litany of others. If those parts are NLA, you may go from a wrong, but working clock to a hood ornament in short order.

Alternatively now that I say that, and pending which setup this is... I probably have a clock or two lying around that were removed in lieu of tachometer.

what year is it?
