Wow, you actually make a good point here! Also, you of all people should compliment this young man for his mature approach to this 242.

It's an institution as it sits, no need to move it.

Probably around $7,000 for great shape, no rust, very clean stock 242 in Cali now-a-days...

2 or 3 summers ago, on craigslist SD, there was a '77 242 DL mustard yellow with brown interior...

Original Owner, 77 thousand miles, super nice, near perfect... $2500

It sold in a few hours... I called and the old guy says "Wow your like the 20 person to call, guess I should have asked for more." I replied "Yeah man, you left a lot of loot on the table."

You and a 242, this doesn’t compute. I thought you only parted them out!

Of course it does, I even had a beater 740 wagon for a while and I've never parted out any car, everything has been from the yards.

^^ That is a good starting point. If I wanted another 242 I'd probably pay $1,000 for that car.

I've got lots of rust to repair on my two. The two are an 81 turbo and an 82 turbo. I am keeping mine because it's a known amount of problems to deal with and I've had both of them for a long time. That 1980 looks like a very good one to start with. No start Kjet is easy.
