Hello all, went to pick and pull and found a majorly hooked up 86 740 wagon. had full IPD sways, ipd cam gear, ipd cam, panhard bar, and a stainless steel, uncut tme sweden catback. bought all of it. i know what everything is except this apparrentlly discontinued ss catback.... it is 2 5/8" mandrel bent tubing, and it is a slip fit 3 piece setup ending in a stainless canister stamped "TME SWEDEN", and a 3 1/2 ss tip that has the ipd logo laser etched on it.... hellllllla clean. Seems top shelf, goes over axel, uses stock mounts. cant find any info through google.... any thoughts? pics soon

is there any noticable power diff between this setup, and 3" w something like a borla xr1? or is this good enough for most things? Have a 3" flowmaster (yup, FTW), and it dumps in front of rear axel... its loud. period. but seems fast. maybe percieved power is spelled, n-o-i-s-e...(ie, BOV sound...)

It's the exhaust that I'm pretty sure IPD still sells...correct me if I'm wrong. It's a good conservative performance exhaust. I'd imagine for most folks, this would be plenty.

Actually, not an ipd exhaust......looks nothing like the current or past ipd usa systems, and has no resonator, just piping and rear mounted muffler..... ill post pics soon..... really...

then i guess more accuratley, it looks like nothing i have seen on ipdusa website..... guess the crux is do i pass this off to someone in favor of 3 inch, or is this sufficient? brown tops, npr, 14psi mbc, 3 inch w flowmaster currentlty, 90+ mani, and garrett t3t4 .48/.60 AR 60 triim..... skinny rod motor doing fine at 123,xxx...... want to lose flowmaster, but not power...... was thinking three inch dp to punched cat(w 3" pipe) might make up for smaller cat back?

I think your cylinder head and stock downpipe/cat will be a bigger restriction than an IPD cat back. I love mine, great sound, and not too loud. Plus it should last foreverish.

going back to yard manana for alum hood, rear valence, and clean front door panels..... upon doing reasearch, car may have a 16T, and def has 90 + mani.....

Nice find. Two questions immediately come to mind. Who the heck scraps a car with everything on it? Why can't I find one? I'd say that's a good system for a decently modded car.

It's exactly the same like mine! I buy it at BSR.se. But the maker is Ray Metalfabrik.se. And it's a really good exhaust system, sound nice, quiet and flow well.

I went today for those same parts; I'd have gotten them on Sat but didn't have the tools with me. good luck, you did well.

:) thanks man.... woulda been in oaktown on sat also, but i got tied up pulling damn near everything off a 1983 245Tic at a nearby wrecker..... I was soooooo stoked when i found this wagon sunday tho..... saw the rear bar, after the ipd labels, then saw the catback, then i thought to pull the bellly pan( skidplate thing)... saw "IPD"tag on the front bar immidiatley after, and was THRILLED.... took it one step further to find the ipd cam and gear, which was also behind stock timing cover, and nice mbc..... WTeff were the rims on it? Voxx? never seen those....are the front door panels there still? rear valence? i used like 4 tools to pull everything.....hacksaw thru rubber hangers and vac lines( i have mine), 14mm for cam gear, 14mm n 2 17mmsfor the bars, my mits for most else.... o wait, and a 10mm cause i needed a front turn signal. Gotta bring your tools man, even on scouting missions to the yard..... Its like going to war w no bullets if you dont! :)

Nice Find!
A wise man bring his tools evrytime he goes to the 'yard.
You never know what treasure you'll find today.... that will be gone the next.

TME's web site still has dyno data posted comparing their CAT back systems with the factory pipes. If you can believe their data, the improvement is significant and removes MOST of the restriction CAT back. I just bought that same system from another TBer, not quite as clean as the one your scored, but good enough for my cheap thrills 944.

Search for posts from CatPoodle (Caboodle?) aka 740weapon.....he ran 13's with the TME exhaust, upgraded to a full blown 3" from downpipe back......and ran no faster with $500+ of new exhaust. It seems the TME system does a pretty decent job. Enjoy it!

JYs around here suck for parts, never see an alloy wheel, I even had trouble today finding a license plate holder and couldn't find a rear window wiper arm. Nice find.
