A lifted 1993 Classic 240

412 looks good with tint. Nice.

Good to see I'm not the only one driving on different tires front/rear sometimes :x:

 I try not to think about it. I?m about to steal the strut assemblies from the project volvo so I can lift this thing.

Well it?s lifted. 2? strut lift upfront and XJ springs in the rear. 215/75 toyo open country AT II tires. Sleeved the struts after extending for extra strength. Running a spacer for strut insert in front, Vanagon kybs in the rear(for now). Removed sways. Stepping out of this thing feels so much taller. Still not perfect though.

Locker installed, extended wheel studs and 35mm spacers added to the rear. Getting ready for IPD Garage Sale in a couple weekends. And hopefully loads of camping this summer.

How do you like the XJ springs in the rear? I want to give them a try, but my IPD overloads handle heavy loads so well... they are just super jumpy unloaded.
Do you have that problem with the XJs unloaded?

Not really. I?d say they are slightly softer.

How do they hold up to heavy loading?
I've crammed 8 people in my 240 on the ipd overloads, and it performed great. Do you think I'd be able to do that on the XJ springs?

So after my camping trip this weekend I?ve determined that they are too soft. On top of a bit of tire rubbing on big bumps, they also allow my front end to lift up like crazy under acceleration. I?m going to look into HD shocks/struts as well as possibly a HD front xj coil spring to replace these.

Thanks for the update on the XJ springs. The ipds are very capable, just super springy unloaded. And the car pitches forward when braking, opposite problem to yours. They performed well with ~1400lbs of people in it.

Hope everyone has been fairing well during these ridiculous times. Here?s some photos of the Volvo currently. It pulled home an ?87 16? boat with an aq151a in it last week. It?s become a work wagon really. Equipped with aluminum shelving and a 2000w inverter with a deep cycle marine battery on board. Also customized a windows guard for the rear window. Need to do the rest now.

This is basically how I've used all my wagons. Nice setup. Still making the dash wood trim?

Thanks man. I haven?t made a set for a while but still have all the old notes. When i bought my house my garage got smaller and my hobbies dwindled. Now I?ve got a house project, a boat project and a 242 project plus three kids. Free time is sparse. :-P
