CD009 to 244 build thread

It looks like the gear ratios aren't very good on that transmission. What differential are you using?
First Gear Ratio :-)1):3.79
Second Gear Ratio :-)1):2.32
Third Gear Ratio :-)1):1.62
Fourth Gear Ratio :-)1):1.27
Fifth Gear Ratio :-)1):1.00
Sixth Gear Ratio :-)1):0.79

vs the t5z:
1st: 2.95
2nd: 1.94
3rd: 1.34
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.63

almost seems like the CD009 has too short of a first and too tall of a 6th, like 2 useless gears?

I'll use a 3.31 final with my CD009 swap. My 370z has a 3.42 final with about 300 whp so I guess that the 3.31 with 600+ whp should be ok.

And all this always depends on what you'll actually do with the car. Road race, street cruzin or drag racing?

I think with 3.31s, a largish turbo, and 600+ hp that you?ll be wanting a numerically lower gear ratio. You?ll just end up shifting a bunch and being in and out of boost. The car might actually end up being slower.

gonna be using a truetrac with my 3.73 in it and we'll see how it goes, gonna be running a 15g or 16t more than likely, or may just go chinese choo choo boy

?

Here are the RPM's after gear change, with theoretical shift point of 7k rpm:

1 3.79
2 2.32 4285
3 1.62 4888
4 1.27 5488
5 1 5512
6 0.79 5530

1 2.95
2 1.94 4603
3 1.34 4835
4 1 5224
5 0.63 4410

you're going to spend more time shifting than in any one gear. First gear will be like a granny first in a pickup truck.

was debating spending the coin on a new set of ring and pinion for the ratios, yukon sells a 3.08 ratio i believe, or i was going to find a 240/740 with a m47/46 3.31 rear end and swap it out, that should definitely help

How does this conversion compare to say fitting a T5?

A T5 is a lot easier swap to do. If you're not planning on say... 350+ hp(???) then a T5 is probably a better idea.

The 6 speed CD009's ratios have a much wider range, it's not going to work all that well with a small turbo motor, better with a big lazy I6 or V8.

Yeah I'm kinda regretting it now, but at least I'm going to V8 swap at some point after the 8v kicks it so I don't feel as bad

Got myself a diff rebuild kit and some new 3.08 yukon performance ring and pinion for the truetrac, Still waiting on the CBF shifter (go figure, he says it'll be shipped next week so heres to hoping)

No shifter from CBF as of yet, sounds about par for the course. Wish I had the spare cash to buy the alternative from autosportsengineering just so i could at least have it in my hands.

UPDATE: after 3 ish months the CBF shifter has shipped, should be in transit monday and in my hands by next weekend, should be moving forward with the swap more soon!

dont buy from CBF for the love of god, buy from autosports engineering
