my group a grill has some flaky chrome on the top leading edge which annoyed me. i read online many solutions such as bleach which i tried with poor results. HLC or hydrocloric acid works great. took about 4 days of soaking, the plastic is unaffected and after words you rinse it off with water and its ready for proper paint. Much better than scuffing the flaky chrome hoping for the best!
