On November 9th there is going to be a meet here in Richmond put together by me, Ben (WildmanBen) and James (Parkgh34). The plan is to meet at an Autocross at Cloverleaf Mall. (Directions and details about the Autocross can be found at http://www.VMSC.org.) Afterwards the plan is to go for a drive and go to my house for a BBQ. If your interested, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know via PM, AIM, email or however else. The sooner you let me know the better.

Just a note, there will be no drinking permitted at the bbq....sorry guys.

I'll talk to my dad about it. He drives an S70 GLT and I drive a 740 GLE 16-valve (NA I know, but it's still a nice brick). Sounds like a fun time and a great way for my dad to show off his new (gets the car back tomorrow) paint job.

Sounds awesome, Can't wait to get everyone together. I'll have more definite times soon, and I'll make some sort of list of things for people to bring.

Auto X starts at cloverleaf mall at around 12:00 on sunday. It would be cool if we could meet somewhere ahead of time and all go to the auto x together. just my 2 cents

So far Cavemanracing is coming up from Hampton Roads, and possibly some friends of his with him. See about going with him.

That would be cool. Have all the Tbricks pull in at the same time. Converge on the autox from every direction! Don't think I can make it, but maybe.

wildmanben
10-31-2003, 05:36 PM
About rolling in together- we have to drive around the mall to get to the autox area, so we can sort of re-group and get in line behind the mall if necessary- then we can pull into the autox all at once, hopefully there are some more of you with nice audible exhausts? Should imprint some nice facial expressions on the crowd...

mAydAy
10-31-2003, 05:50 PM
Ben's exhaust definitely is audible, eheheh.
We should be able to make an entrance, between James's mean looking lopey Volvo, Ben's loud (soon lopey and soon tuuuurbo) sleeper and ofcourse the cohorts from HR and whoever else can make it.

Alright now its time to move on to part II.
We (Me, Ben and James) are going to provide burgers and hot dogs for sunday since its not the best idea to bring those on a long car trip. However, I do need people to bring:
A) Drinks (NO ALCOHOL -- stuff like a cooler of soda's, and some for the auto-x too I guess...)
B) Side dishes -- Someone be creative here, but we need more than just burgers and dogs
C) Buns -- No, I'm not talking about girlfriends, though they are welcome to come....We need a few packages of hot dog and hamburger buns
D) Chips and stuff -- Just snack stuff to go with everything
E) Condiments -- Someone go to Costco or somewhere and pick up one of those things of Relish, Mustard and Ketchup and some pickles too, and I'll provide some onions for the stuff.
--Please post and let people know how many people are coming in your group -- Your friends, people riding with you, etc -- and also please post what you plan on bringing so we get everything and don't end up wiht 725 buns but no drinks...

Remember, More people are welcome, Just so long as we have enough for everyone. I'd like a count of how many people are going to be coming by friday or saturday so we can go and make sure we get plenty of stuff.

schaff70
11-02-2003, 06:23 PM
I'll have my boss run to Costco & grab a couple side items for me this week.
Hopefully it turns out to be cool and no rain this W/E.

The only good soundsystem in any of our cars is in the Ferrari. My 740GLE has a decent aftermarket system, but it's still not amplified and I don't have subs.

I just talked to my dad and he's interested in going. He's going to talk to Terry Tichy about us all meeting at Import Service to caravan up. Who else from Virginia Beach will be going?

I think the plan is going to be that we will all meet at Regency mall around 11:15ish on Parham road, that should be enough time to allow people to show up and get grouped and ready. Its right off of Parham, which is what the Powhite Parkway turns into as it comes into town some. We can roll from their as a group to Cloverleaf.

Alright cool and no problem.

Ok, I want everyone who is going to PM me or post the following:
1) What you are planning on bringing -- Need to make sure we are getting everything we need brought
Remember to bring enough for around 30, maybe 35 people
-I think that CavemanRacing has the buns covered
-Looks like ThreeFatTigers has the chips covered

2) A cell phone # so we can figure out where you are in case your running late
My cell phone number is

3) The number of people and cars that you are accounting for -- IE how many friends are coming (If the number changes its cool, just let me know)

4) What time you want to leave -- So we can plan when we do things around this to accomodate you, we don't want to put off eating till 5:30 when you need to leave at 5:45 (I plan on doing the food around 3ish or something)

We still have plenty of room for more people so go grab your friends, your neighbors with Volvo's (Or Lamborghini's, or anything cool really) and your ladies and drag 'em along, just let me know they are coming. I want to make this as fun as possible.

Directions are coming soon, give us some time.

wildmanben
11-04-2003, 11:54 PM
This isn't the final directions or anything, but just to give you an idea...
Map (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=parham+and+patterson&city=richmond&state=va&zipcode=&homesubmit=Get+Map) The brown section at the top of the map is where we are meeting, it is called Regency Square, or Regency Mall.

11-05-2003, 02:12 PM

From Fairfax, outside of DC, I think I'll show up for this event if thats all right. I drive a S60 2.4basehttp://images.cardomain.com/member_images/12/web/444000-444999/444622_6_full.jpg. if anybody's interested i have some 15" konig rims that I don't need (not free). so is the meeting place and time hammered out?

mAydAy
11-07-2003, 03:17 PM
Please, Please, please show up. We'd LOVE to have you. :-)

We will be meeting at Regency at the corner of Parham road, farthest down Parham from interstate. There is a stoplight beyond it, turn there and follow the road into the mall a little ways, then make a right and proceed to where we are waiting for you.

From Hampton Roads:
Take I-64 (Figure out getting on 64 yourself) West To Richmond. Take Exit 181A South onto N. Parham Road. Regency Square Mall is the destination, its ~2miles down Parham. We'll direct you from there to Cloverleaf. There should be a Blue 244 and a lowered, tinted Silver 244 in the parking lot waiting for yall. Its in the far corner of the parking lot, you can see us from Parham -- it'll be on the right side of the road, and there is a stoplight nearby.

From Lynchburg or Charlottesville: (For Three Fat Tigers)
Take I-64 East to Richmond (I'll let you figure out getting to 64 on your own :-P). Take Exit 181 for Parham Road, then turn Right. Its ~1.75miles down Parham Road. The rest of the directions are the same as above.

From DC area:
Take I-95 South to Richmond (You can get to I-95 on your own, I hope). Take exit 83B onto East Parham Road heading South. Travel down Parham around 8miles.

If you are coming from anywhere else and need directions, let me know and I'll help you.

I STILL Need to know what some of you are bringing on Sunday...And how many are coming, and your cell phone number would be nice also. I NEED to know this. Remember, bring enough of whatever for 25-30 people.

Also, Feel free to call my cell phone at if you have any questions you want to ask me. I won't have my cell until around 3 this afternoon because I forgot to bring it to school with me, but after that I should have it clear from now until the meet.

We need:

More side dishes (Someone is bringing potato salad, lets get some other stuff brought too)

More drinks (someone was going to pick up a few 2liter bottles of soda, how about someone gets a cooler of soda's or water or something?)

Some chips and dip and stuff -- Three Fat Tigers may possibly get caught up at work so if someone can pick some up I'd appreciate it

Dessert - Bring some if you want some

I regret to inform you that I will not be attending the meet. As I told Andy, my dad's S70 was horribly defiled at the painter's and will not be out for at least a week (and a lawsuit is in order). The Ferrari hasn't moved in 2 months and is in no way road ready. My 745 could probably make the trip, but I'm having some throttle issues, and I don't want to get stranded on I64 by myself (my dad has decided he doesn't want to go and I don't have a cell phone). Sorry guys, but I'll have to catch the next one.

Max and I had a great time. He talked about 'those crazy Volvo guys' all the way to Gaskins, where he fell asleep. Now he's running around the house "Autocrossing." We're going to dart him in a couple of minutes and put him to bed.

It was great to finally put faces with posts, so to speak. We need to do this again. But maybe when it gets warmer!
