Up the boost till it starts pinging then back it down. At minimal you'd want some h beam rods. They're cheap enough and if you dont want to pull motor, drop the subframe and do it from the bottom....

Why do you think its needs a rebuild? Rebuilds are expensive and there is no performance benefit. A engine refresh is much easier and less $$.

Yeah people just don't get it. I've been to lots of supposedly 'cold' places and its still colder here. Wet cold is just the worst. With all the wind, it feels like the cold is shot into your bones....

If the cable even looks at me wrong, I replace it. No one wants to do this job under the car. The cable is cheap. If its original, just replace it to avoid future headaches.

It could be not evenly set or not pushed in far enough. Do you remember how far you set it? Timing belt has to come off because you have to remove the pulley and rear timing cover.

Like other old cars, the boot key is different from the igntion key. Have you tried using the button in the glove box. 240 turbos are the only models with a button to pop the boot open.

Since you have a manual trans, an easy and cheap cam swap would be a 't' cam from any turbo model. You can get it off that junkyard car. This will wake up the car a bit.

You need the intercooler with upper and lower mounts w/ piping. Turbo, manifold and down pipe. Oil cooler setup(oil cooler lines, oil cooler, oil filter adapter). You can't use the ecus or injectors....

I just recommend a steel fitting because if it ever has to be removed. The brass is soft and can be damaged easily. Third option would be the best bet. First option is good too.
