Yeah, I have the same STS steering shaft. There's only about 1/16" of clearance between it and the header though. If my limiter idea doesn't work, I'll scooch the rack over a bit.

Sounds like a textbook vacuum leak. I'd agree that cam timing can be affected by skimming a head, but in my experience I've never had a redblock head cut enough to really affect it much.

Those mounts must sit the engine up higher than my setup. I've got the same manifolds and steering shaft, and have clearance issues around right turns. It was great for transmission clearance though.
