With the ability to play music I started using my hearing in the car again and quickly realized it's way too loud, axle dump with PnP flowmaster drones terribly and there is a ton of wind/road noise. I decided to solve the exhaust situation first since it's something I've hated since I did it.

Collected the right bits last week, all three inch. Mandrel bent piping kit, high flow CA approved cat (CA meaning Canada, but they still shipped it here), slip fit Vbands, and the largest magnaflow straight threw muffler I could find
I yet again didn't get around to installing the BNE torque rods, they have moved into the truck until I do
<a href="https://ibb.co/WnkyVsK"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Y2ck0bj/PXL-20210322-015645645.jpg" alt="PXL-20210322-015645645" border="0"></a>

A few hours and every screw jack we have later it was all together, under axle since it's low enough, around the passenger side of the gas tank. The section under the crossmember sits a little low so I will likely redo it when I get a flex joint for the down pipe
<a href="https://ibb.co/37tm8wn"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/bPp5yxk/PXL-20210322-050000238.jpg" alt="PXL-20210322-050000238" border="0"></a>

Much MUCH quieter, you can't tell it's idling with the windows up and music at a normal level, but still makes nice 5 cylinder noises under load. No more drone at 2500 rpm and about 7-10 decibel drop in cabin noise according to the two ****ty sound meter apps I got.

<a href="https://ibb.co/rFVFxHY"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/4KHK8pz/PXL-20210322-143626658-MP-3.jpg" alt="PXL-20210322-143626658-MP-3" border="0"></a>

The other upside is how much of a flow difference it made, even with way more pipe, a bigger muffler and a cat it elevated a bunch of backpressure. The car until now has only been able to make ~8 psi of boost, regardless of MBC settings, I had previously adjusted the MBC for about an hour, little bit by bit without change. By the end of it I tossed it in the passenger seat and went WOT with the waste gate disconnected, 8psi. On the drive home spools to ~15psi with the MBC set to whatever I had it at last.

Enjoying the happenin's in this here thread.
Thanks, as am I. This had quickly become my favorite volvo, and also sucked all my time and money away from the rest of them

Took the exhaust off twice so far, the Vbands are a game changer, much easier then any exhaust flange I've delt with before. Unfortunately both times it's had to come off because of the way I built it. Going onto 4 post lifts the section under the cross member hits on the ramps, and going onto 2 post lifts the axle would drop straight through the back section.

After getting an alignment I took it to berryessa again, this time with a solid suspension setup, man does it drive nice.

This is the first of my cars that I can't feel the tires coming loose on corners, no body roll, just stays planted to the ground. I couldn't stop smiling, until I ran over a brick sized rock

<a href="https://ibb.co/p2CSzYs"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/y0LryHM/PXL-20210327-043436286-2.jpg" alt="PXL-20210327-043436286-2" border="0"></a>

It was one piece before it went straight under the tire, went back to toss it out of the road, would send the average KIA to the scrapyard.

Wheel survived unbent, rebalanced it anyways.

The *only* damage was the drivers motor mount stand, top half broke away from the frame rail:omg:, so I took the opportunity to make a new one

95% of the vibration in the car is gone now, only at highway speeds does it have a little bit, I'm blaming the driveshaft angles still, if only I could get around to installing the torque rods

What’s in the roof box Jimmy?

What roof box?

What part of Active lifestyle cosmetic enhancements don't you get
ALCE, volvo approved

It's now been a year with the whiteblock, daily driven except for a few stints. I've really been loving this car as it's taking shape into my goals for it.

<a href="https://ibb.co/bJmGwkd"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/PQjVXdC/PXL-20210407-012109017.jpg" alt="PXL-20210407-012109017" border="0"></a>

Over the next year there I hope to make it even better, my goals are to continue to increase the comfort (new seat, better driveshaft, sound deadening, ext) and also increase performance (h-beam rods, e36 manifold?, Bigger turbo/injectors/intercooler/tune and more boost.

I also "installed" the ambient temperature gauge I've had laying around, not hooked up, nor is it volvo branded but it fills in the final gauge spot. One will have to come off for the wideband, but for now it's all looking good.

your roof box is stupid

I took it off for a day and the car looked naked.
If only the ******* who sold me the louvers had the hardware too.

It also distracts from the mismatched hood, missing trim and how bad it needs a wash/wax

I've only got $1.95 there, takes $2.50 to get any time around here. Higher standards then Oroville. I guess I could have your alleyway neighbors clean the windshield for half that

As long as it's threw the windshield, keep locking my keys in the car, would be much easier without it.

I have not tried since the exhaust but thanks for the reminder. Seems the back pressure was stopping anything over 8psi before, I've got a MBC now but would prefer to use the soleniod, gotta recheck the wiring diagrams and put it back on

After some annoying driveshaft vibration I decided to install the BNE torque rods I've had around for months, much easier to adjust and very nice feel in hand.

<a href="https://ibb.co/qm2NTcR"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/8PQr1fj/PXL-20210410-231259615.jpg" alt="PXL-20210410-231259615" border="0"></a>

Along with the torque rods I installed a poly transmission mount, the stock mustang one had quite a bit of bounce to it.

Setting pinion angle I've found myself in a predicament, the 3.5" SN95 driveshaft won't go back onto the diff flange after correcting the angle at this ride height (or anything the springs will reach). It runs right into the area it's been rubbing on in the tunnel. I dropped off my coleman 2.5" shaft for balancing this morning before starting the work so hopefully it's done soon and fits.

Just to ask in case anyone knows, the engine/transmission sits at about -3.5? (down in the back), setting the diff anywhere close (-3.5?, flange up) it won't get close to fitting. I could drop the rear of the transmission some more but how much engine angle is too much?

On a side note I double checked the info i've read about BMW 24v exhaust ports being the same general size and placement, looks good enough to find a manifold that will clear the side of the head

As far as driveline angle, I have my transmission (T5) 3.0 degrees down and my diff only 1.0 degree flange up. Mustang driveshaft, no vibration.

What rear trailing arm bushings/bearing are you running? None under load or decel?

Zero vibration. Tremec has an iphone app that has you set your phone on each angle and it tells you go or no go. Mine was a go. I have super pro poly bushings in the trailing arms and the BNE torque rods.
