The size and number of holes has to do with the engine's requirement for fuel during the transition between the idle circuit and main circuit. They're usually referred to as progression ports.

I just don't have the slightest clue what would work best on a Volvo motor (much less than a modified one), and it's 'practically' impossible to experiment with different progression drillings, so you just sort of live with whatever you get? Just make sure the pair matches.
 
Welcome back! I just picked up one of these very rare Volvo Competition Services air cleaners for use with twin dual throat Solex carbs as are on this 142. Delighted find one, it is new old stock and has never been used - saving it for the next project.

Those are pretty awesome. To bad nobody reproduces them
 
If you find a properly sized replacement filter one could try to produce it self :) , not sure what filter to look for tho...

I have the unused original filter element inside of the original mesh, but want to save it without using it.

Similar outer mesh should not be to hard to find, but I need to research what is the correct open cell foam to use on the inside?

It would be perfect for driving on all of the gravel roads I have to travel on around here.

Nice! I just got a pair of these 45's to replace the 40's on mine. I went with the 152g with the 4 progression holes and it runs so well I may not even put the wideband in that i welded a bung in for. I assume these are the 3 hole progression carbs?

Honestly I'm not real sure. This is my first time messing with webers. How can you tell?
 
Should be a 152 or 152g on the top cover of the carb. 152 = 3 progression holes. 152g = 4 progression holes. Either will do fine I'm sure. I was just expecting to have to start changing out jets to get a smooth tip in, so curious if the 4th hole really makes that much of a diff. Let us know once you get them sync'd.

Look up the Enkei wheels that are fairly similar to those. I have a set that will go with the 4 door I'm listing soon, they have a small hump between the spokes that sets them apart from Minilites but they're otherwise pretty similar. I'll try to grab a picture when I have a few minutes.

The K&N filter is not sexy (and will go eventually) but it worked well

I know this might turn some people off, but I'm kicking around the idea of putting airbag suspension on this car. The biggest question I've always had was in regards to shock mounting point on the front control arms. I had heard about guys removing the sway bar and using that mounting point to mount the shock, but I didn't want to not use a sway bar. I found a guy in Malaysia that had done it, and he figured out a simple solution. He just welded a new bracket on the opposite side of the arm to mount the shock.

If I decide to do it I’d like to use one of these e-level controllers, which will constantly adjust the bags to maintain the set ride height under different conditions. You don’t have to have these, but I’d like to not effect the way the car currently handles, if fact I’d hope for an approvement. <o:p></o:p>

It's been done. Keith had bags on his 2 door. I'm not completely sold on the set up, personally. A good drop using the correct parts will get you plenty of low while improving handling. Even a mild drop will get you great results. I had no front sway on my 4 door and could throw that thing around corners with just a small drop from VP's springs. Never got it sideways or scared myself, these aren't rockets.
 
Yeah the more I think about it, the more I just want to stick with vintage type mods. The car is just too nice, too original.
