Default 740 Swaps

I just want to know what kind of swaps can be done to a 740 wagon that could produce around 250hp, I just need to know where to start and any guidance, tutorials, anything would be useful because I've been looking around the forum and there isn't much on 740's (that I've seen).
Sorry if there is another thread on this I just haven't come across it.

Thanks!

anything if you have the tools.. single/twin cam redblock, v6, v8.
single cam, ported head, injectors, cam, big china bay turbo, intercooler, stock 2.4 on chips
same with twin but more power with less effort but more $$ to build

Define "swap"

Another Volvo motor, a Ford, Chevy or Cummins?

Easiest for you would be install a turbo motor from a 740 Turbo model, or just add a turbo to your current motor.

Why would you want to do a swap when the stock engine and transmission should live just fine at 250whp?

See, this is my problem I'm just a total noob, I just figured swapping in a second hand volvo engine would give me the most cost effective results, but still, I'm not sure if I should upgrade the stock engine or do a swap with a different brand that would be more domestic (easier on the wallet), and for a swap I would like anything that makes it easier would be perfect (I know it's a tall order) but I'm on a shoestring budget and use surplus tools so... whatever could help make my life easier is perfect,
Thanks!

thanks for the links Mueller

No swaps with these cars are for shoestring budgets. You'll have to either swap the trans as well or adapt the new engine to the one you have, deal with fuel delivery, mounting, etc. Lots of custom parts that don't come cheap. Modification in general is not cheap.

I'm now referring to the linked FAQ's and this thread is useless, sorry for the clutter, and as for the budget goes, I guess it's not really a shoestring, I'm in no rush, it's just going to be a lengthy mod process though, thanks for the input and everything.
I guess this thread can be left to rot or can be deleted, however they work on this forum, again, thanks and sorry for newbism.

You ever need help, shoot me a PM...I'm from Sarnia, too. '90 245, dark grey, Prancing Moose [Faux-rrari] stickers.

I'm at some point going to collect parts for a 16v NA (maaaaaybe +T) build.
