I know they never did a 140 with a diesel as factory (aside from a prototype).
I'm not talking about a D24T, more along the lines of a 4BT Cummins, Mercedes OM601/OM616/OM617, or something else.
I know I'll have to fab my own engine mounts. 4BT is probably out of the question due to extreme cost.

I'm in the united states- we never got the Volvo diesels after the D24T.
I didn't take it into account that in the US diesel passenger cars aren't that popular as in Europe.

It's basically the same engine(with some differences) as in VW T4 Transporter/Eurovan and Audi did use it as well.

Check your pm's. If I stay b20, I'm going to need some guidance.

OK but I'm in engine build mode for "warmed up B230 No2 today--filing rings...oh boy---and No3 tomorrow and i have to crate a YBB Frod Crossways engine tomorrow and ship it away--going in a Mk1 Escort..

Oh and forget the diesel thing, too much work to make something agonisingly slow and fawk with mounts and gearbox and all that, just ain't worth the bother..B20 can be plenty fun.

I'm not in a hurry.
We limit ourselves to one engine type of work per day to keep our heads on straight (same architecture/family). I wish I had the focus to do multiple engines is short succession like that.
Mmmm.... British Ford/Cosworth- that'd be a worthy engine swap.

Now knowing that I can safely wind it out, my crack pipe dream can be put to rest.

But it's not pushrod.... :-(
Just found that page- essentially a race-precursor to what would become the B234F?

For a diesel swap into a 140 I'd think the VW TDI would make the most sense. Either a 1.9L (early 2000s) or 2.0L from 2009 - 2015 (Dieselgate engine). Sdturbo / Yoshifab / Josh here on TB has a 1.9-swapped 245 that he's been driving for years. Probably a good guy to talk to if you're serious about it.
